- Mr. Steve Veck will take us through the elements in the plume and why it’s so important for it to be evacuated
- Mr. Simon Withey will explain his clear view on plume evacuation and why this is common practice for him
- Mrs. Anita Elisabeth Thomsen will share her experience of implementing plume evacuation in the operating room
Steve Veck, Electrosurgery Consultant and clinical educator
Mr. Veck has over 30 years of experience in thermal energy and surgical plume. He is a British Standards Institute Committee Member and is currently on the working group for the ISO16571:2019 standard on surgical plume. Mr. Veck is also a Council Member for The International Society on Surgical Plume, a one voice advocacy to provide education and support on plume.
Mr Simon Withey, MBBS, MS, FRCS (Ed), FRCS (Eng), FRCS (Plast)
Mr. Withey is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with a specialist interest in facial, chest wall, cranial and abdominal wall reconstruction. He is heavily involved in improving standards of practice and care in cosmetic surgery. He has represented UK on the British Standards Institute and European Standards Institute standards committees, developing national and European standards for both surgical and non-surgical practice.
Anita Elisabeth Thomsen, Registered Nurse
Anita is a OR Nurse working at Odense University Hospital - Svendborg Hospital in Denmark. She has over 19 years of experience within Orthopaedics, General Abdominal Surgery, Gyn/Obst. and ENT.
